King Solomon’s Mines is a classic adventure novel by H. Rider Haggard, widely considered one of the first "lost world" stories. It introduced the legendary adventurer Allan Quatermain, who would later become one of literature’s most famous explorers.
Set in 19th-century Africa, the novel follows Allan Quatermain, a rugged English hunter and explorer, as he leads a dangerous expedition to find King Solomon’s legendary diamond mines.
The journey begins when Sir Henry Curtis and his friend Captain John Good recruit Quatermain to help locate Henry’s lost brother, who vanished while searching for the mines. Quatermain, reluctant at first, agrees in exchange for a share of the treasure—if they survive.
The expedition faces harsh deserts, deadly animals, and hostile tribes, until they reach the hidden kingdom of the Kukuanas, ruled by the ruthless King Twala and his sinister witch-doctor Gagool.
